About Us
Our philosophy
Our business philosophy is to be more than just your IT contractor; we aim to be an integral part of your team, akin to an in-house IT department but with lower costs for you. Our commitment is towards building enduring partnerships with every client, regardless of their size.
- A testament to our dedication is our enduring relationship with our very first client from 1991, who continues to trust us to this day. This longevity isn't unique - many of our clients have been with us for 15 to 25 years, a clear indicator of our consistent quality and reliability.
- We believe our clients' experiences speak for themselves, and we're happy to provide references upon request.
David and I have devoted ourselves to mastering various technologies, enabling us to comprehensively address all your technical requirements. A key advantage of our approach is the elimination of double-billing, as overlapping tasks are efficiently managed. Additionally, this strategy resolves the issue of accountability; if a problem arises, we acknowledge it as our responsibility and swiftly act to rectify it.
We recognize the significant costs associated with downtime, both in terms of time and finances. Our service extends beyond merely providing preventative recommendations; we tailor our working hours to suit your needs. This includes working during off-hours and weekends for tasks that necessitate downtime, ensuring minimal disruption to your operations.
Let us make you the next happy customer.
Jeff Underwood
Our History
In 1991, nestled within the humble confines of Jeff's bedroom, a partnership was born. Jeff and David, fueled by ambition and a shared vision, embarked on an entrepreneurial journey. Just a year later, their growing enterprise moved into an apartment, marking the first of many milestones. By the following year, their dedication had paid off with the opening of their inaugural retail store.
- Adjacent to this store, a new venture blossomed: a Training Center. This addition not only expanded our services but also garnered our first feature in a newspaper, a testament to our growing impact.

- For 18 years, our base was a bustling retail mall. Here, our clientele expanded rapidly, a reflection of our commitment to quality and service. This period of growth prompted a strategic pivot; we shifted our focus from retail parts to specialized services. Embracing change, we transitioned from our retail roots to a warehouse-based operation, offering exclusively on-site services.
- Today, Jeff and I stand proud of our journey through the industry. Our past is a tapestry of dedication and evolution. As we continue forward, our commitment remains unwavering: to excel, to innovate, and to deliver unparalleled service. Our journey is far from over – it's a path marked by continuous improvement and an enduring commitment to excellence.
The Partners
At the age of 12, inspired by my grandfather, I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey. He persuaded three neighbors to entrust their lawns to my brother and me for weekend mowing. Although my brother soon lost interest, my enthusiasm only grew. I recruited help, and by the time I was 16, I was managing over 50 lawns each week.
- Upon high school graduation, I seized the opportunity to turn this venture into a full-time business. With my father's guidance, I secured a loan that enabled me to invest in quality equipment and a robust advertising strategy. By 23, my business had flourished, expanding into servicing apartment complexes and retail spaces while still nurturing a growing residential clientele. At this point, I was leading a team of over ten employees.
- An unexpected turn came when a major landscaping company offered a substantial sum to acquire my thriving business. This proposition required considerable thought, but ultimately, I decided to sell and pursue further education. Enrolling at Oakland University, I initially focused on business studies. However, a mandatory computer class sparked a new passion within me, leading me to switch majors to computer science. I graduated with an Associate's Degree in business and a bachelor's in computer science.
- Subsequently, I joined WBC Computers as a technician and quickly advanced to the position of head network technician within two years. Yet, when the company relocated, resulting in a daunting commute of over an hour and a half, I was compelled to rethink my path. In 1991, alongside David, I co-founded U&B Consulting Inc. Since then, we have been dedicatedly building our company."
Jeff Underwood
"From a young age, I was turned on to computers. My family bought our first computer when I was around 10 years old. It was an Apple II+ with a green screen monitor! Within a few years, I had saved up my allowance money, and with my dad's help, we switched to my first IBM-compatible PC. This opened a whole new world to me. As I got older, I expanded my knowledge. I kept learning more about computers. As a young teen, I took a class at OCC. It was fun, but I oddly found that I knew more things than the instructor.
My high school had a computer club, which allowed me to expand my skills in computer programming. In addition, I started my own Bulletin Board System. This was the pre-Internet era, when my computer was essentially a server that outside callers could use to play games and connect with other people. By this time, I knew a career in technology was my path. I went to the University of Michigan, Dearborn, to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering.
After a few years, the university offered a computer engineering program, which I then switched to. It was during this time that Jeff and I first met. Not too long afterward, U&B Consulting was born."
